flashy flash

Went to the Post Office and retrieved a lovely package today: a brand new flashy flash. (Dare I admit it?) The first flash I have ever purchased, in the whole course of my life.*

So far, it's flaweshome.

Yes, I know. Word mash-up fail.

* If you do not yet know this about me, you should: phrases from Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice regularly, uh, spew, unbidden, from my mouth. Usually, people don't notice, or just think I'm a strange person, using turns-of-phrase from two centuries ago. Luckily for you, the interwebs oblige in explanation. I suppose this all still makes me a strange person. Oh, well.

the hike

Family reunion last weekend.

The photo above is taken at a spot in the middle of the woods that used to be known locally as "The Steps." Our ancestors (some of them pictured here, circa 1908) and neighboring prairie folk would hike there on camping trips.

So what did we do on our family reunion? We went searching for the Steps. We found them.

lucky day

Looked for four leaf clovers today. Stopped looking at ten.

I feel a little bit triumphant, and a little bit like I may have just wasted a whole lot of luck on clovers, rather than something more substantial, such as, perhaps, I don't know, the lottery? Vegas? Finding a unicorn?

(P.S. Despite a few of them looking a little wonky in the picture, they are all bonafide four-leafers. I promise.)
